Padres | Ian Kennedy to start Wednesday

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 14:40:01 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy was activated from the paternity list Tuesday, Aug. 4, and he'll start against the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) has been much better of late, allowing three runs or less in each of his last 11 starts since June 2. He's pitched a bit better on the road, but he's also allowing 2.0 home runs per nine innings, and the Brewers have been a much better offensive team since the All-Star break. Kennedy carries plenty of risk into his start tomorrow.

Padres | Ian Kennedy starting vs. Miami again

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 13:45:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy was unable to fly out of Miami due to weather conditions Friday, July 31, so he will start against the Miami Marlins Friday, as planned.

Fantasy Tip: With 52 strikeouts and a 2.83 ERA through 57 1/3 innings over his past 10 starts, Kennedy ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) could return high-end results against a weak Miami lineup Friday. FantasyScore players can turn to Kennedy with confidence as their No. 2 starting pitcher.

Padres | Friars could still deal pending FAs

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 13:39:16 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy, RP Joaquin Benoit and OF Will Venable will not be extended contract extension offers, if they are not dealt in August.

Fantasy Tip: The Padres have a favorable upcoming schedule and playoff aspirations, so they stood pat at the deadline. However, they could still deal a few pending free agents, if they prove to be out of contention next month. It is a fluid situation, but at this point, it seems likely Kennedy, Benoit and Venable will stick with the Friars for a playoff race.

Yankees | NY won't settle for Ian Kennedy, Joaquin Benoit

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:09:23 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy and RP Joaquin Benoit are not of interest to the New York Yankees if they can't acquire Padres RP Craig Kimbrel, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy, Benoit or Kimbrel could all still be dealt in separate deals, but the Yankees have their sights set high while trying to upgrade an already stellar bullpen. Stay tuned as the trade deadline approaches.

Padres | Ian Kennedy won't make start Friday

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 10:35:54 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy has left the team to be with his pregnant wife, and he won't make his start Friday, July 31. SP Odrisamer Despaigne will make the start against the Miami Marlins in Kennedy's place.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy is in the middle of trade rumors and could be dealt Friday, too. Stay tuned. Despaigne ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) typically is a weak FantasyScore play, but against the Marlins, who rank last in OPS against right-handers (.657), he could make for a very profitable sleeper play.

Padres | Ian Kennedy, Will Venable all but dealt

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:43:17 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy and OF Will Venable are considered all but traded, as the Padres are expected to make a number of moves before the trade deadline Friday, July 31, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) will likely be dealt to a contender, and he has the upside to return handsomely through the end of the season, especially if he lands in the right situation. After all, Kennedy has 52 strikeouts with a 2.83 ERA through 57 1/3 innings over his past 10 starts. Venable ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), on the other hand, projects to be a platoon player -- at best -- in his new digs. His value is likely to decline alongside his at-bats.

Blue Jays | Toronto in on Ian Kennedy

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 07:59:42 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy is an option the Toronto Blue Jays are considering in a trade.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) will lose some luster if he leaves Petco Park, especially for the American League. He's a midrange starter on FantasyScore.

Padres | Ian Kennedy pitching well

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 18:52:56 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy has a 2.63 ERA in his last four starts after compiling a 7.15 ERA in his first eight.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) was once a 21-game winner, but consistency has always eluded him. He could be worth a flier at FantasyScore while he is pitching well, but just be prepared for the hot streak to come to an abrupt end.

Padres | Ian Kennedy looks to bring 'A' game

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 19:14:16 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy is scheduled to face the Oakland Athletics Thursday, June 17. He is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts in the month of June, his best month of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($4,800; or 9.6% of cap) has recorded 18 strikeouts over 18 innings in June, and he has 55 punchouts over 57 innings in 11 outings this season. Win or lose, he will give FantasyScore owners a solid amount of strikeouts.

Padres | Ian Kennedy snaps losing streak

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 04:34:30 -0700

San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy had his four-game losing streak snapped when the Padres downed the New York Mets, 7-2, on Tuesday, June 2. Kennedy had allowed 20 runs and 24 hits, including seven homers, over 19 1/3 innings for a 9.31 ERA.

Fantasy Tip: Kennedy ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) broke out in an impressive way, but what was even more impressive was it came against the Mets and pitcher Noah Syndergaard. The numbers still don't weigh in Kennedy's favor for the price, however.
