Colorado Rockies OF Dexter Fowler will continue getting steady playing time, while 1B/OF Tyler Colvin will see time at all three outfield spots and at first base. Though Fowler has been hitting better, manager Jim Tracy has no intention of moving him back to the top of the order.

Rockies | Tyler Colvin earning more time

Colorado Rockies OF Tyler Colvin is starting the first game of the doubleheader in center field Wednesday, April 25, and he could be working his way into the everyday lineup. Manager Jim Tracy said he's confident with Colvin in center field. He is 10-for-31 with one home run this year.

Rockies | Sticking with Dexter Fowler

Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy said he isn't ready to give up on OF Dexter Fowler and only play him in certain matchups. Fowler is hitting .250 against righties this year in 24 at-bats but is 0-for-19 in his career against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Kevin Correia. Fowler could be in danger of losing playing time to OF Tyler Colvin soon, though.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (illness) has improved from strep throat, and he'll be available to pinch hit Monday, April 16. "I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. It was terrible," said Gonzalez. "They changed my medicine so the fever finally went down. My head feels better." OF Tyler Colvin is starting in left field Monday.

Rockies | Two fighting for roster spot

Colorado Rockies OF Eric Young Jr. and INF Jonathan Herrera could be fighting for the last available roster spot this spring. INF Jordan Pacheco and OF Tyler Colvin appear to be locks for spots. Young is out of minor league options, but Herrera has one remaining.

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon (toe) underwent an MRI exam Friday, March 23, but the results are still pending. He's suffering from pain around his left big toe and he hasn't been able to run. OFs Eric Young Jr. or Tyler Colvin could make the team in his place to start the year.

Colorado Rockies INF/OF Eric Young Jr. entered the game Tuesday, March 20, hitting .261 with five stolen bases in five attempts. He's been playing mostly center field, but he's competing with OFs Charlie Blackmon and Tyler Colvin for a roster spot.
