Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw spins a gem

Wed, 27 May 2015 05:20:23 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw pitched seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts to earn his third win of the season against the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, May 26. Kershaw allowed four hits and no walks in the outing.

Fantasy Tip: All reports from the Dodgers and Kershaw ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) were positive, it was just the stats which left a lot to be desired. After all, Kershaw only lost three games all year in 2014, and he already has three this season. If there was ever a legitimate buy-low window, it is likely closed now. Continue to view him as a fantasy ace and top-tier starter. FantasyScore players can start Kershaw with confidence in nearly all matchups.

Dodgers | Shift hurting Clayton Kershaw?

Thu, 16 Apr 2015 14:54:06 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw was hurt by defensive shifts early in his loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks last weekend. "A lot of people do a lot of research and a lot of homework to put guys where they're supposed to be," Kershaw said. "You execute the game plan, the theory is they'll hit it where they are. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it doesn't." Manager Don Mattingly does not believe hitters have the ability to hit the ball where they desire to foil defensive shifts. However, Mattingly also said the team may need to alter their defensive approach to certain hitters if they prove that they are adept at beating the shift.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw ($9,800, 19.6% of cap) remains one of the best pitchers in baseball, if not the best, despite his slow start to the 2015 season (0-1, 5.84 ERA in 12 1/3 innings). You shouldn't hesitate at all to use him in his next start at FantasyScore.

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 19:25:17 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw was lit up for six runs, five earned, Saturday, April 11, against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw ($9,800, 19.6% of cap) allowed 10 hits, one walk and one home run while striking out five batters. Owners can feel free to ignore this stat line, and continue to pay the premium price for Kershaw every time he takes the mound.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw to have root canal

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 16:19:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (tooth) will have a root canal Monday, April 13.

Fantasy Tip: This is unlikely to affect Kershaw's ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) availability for his second start of 2015. Kershaw is currently the highest-priced player at FantasyScore, and for a reason. He's a strong starting pitching option for daily gamers whenever he toes the rubber.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw sharp in spring start

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 16:50:37 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (tooth) started Thursday, March 26, against the Chicago White Sox and allowed one run, with eight strikeouts in six innings.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) is the consensus top pitcher in baseball, and his quick return to sharp form in his first start since getting hit in the mouth with a line drive is excellent for his fantasy outlook. Continue to draft him in the first round, but a matchup with the San Diego Padres in the season opener isn't as juicy as it would have been last year. Still, he's capable of carrying FantasyScore teams and worthy of consideration on opening day.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw to get more dental work

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 11:25:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (tooth) will require more dental work after being hit in the face by a line drive Friday, March 20, but he is still slated to start Opening Day. Kershaw had one tooth extracted and another one repaired, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: This development will not affect Kershaw's status as the top pitcher in fantasy baseball. He is likely to be drafted in the middle of the first round in universal fantasy drafts.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw loses part of tooth

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 15:15:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw said he lost a part of a tooth when he was hit by a broken-bat line drive Friday, March 20, but was otherwise unhurt.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to view Kershaw ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) as the top pitcher in fantasy baseball, and expect him to be drafted in the middle of Round 1. Kershaw and the Dodgers host the San Diego Padres in their first game, and Kershaw is worth considering as your No. 1 starter for FantasyScore contests.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw avoids scare

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 14:01:37 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw was struck in the face with a broken-bat line drive Friday, March 20. He avoided injury and remained in the game, though.

Fantasy Tip: Kershaw is the No. 1 pitcher in baseball, and he projects to go in the middle of Round 1 in the majority of drafts. Over the past five seasons, Kershaw has averaged 17 wins, a 2.26 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP and 232 strikeouts over 220 innings pitched. He has been even better the past two years, too, and at just 27, there is no reason to expect a drop off.

Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw to start opening day

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 09:57:43 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw will make the start on opening day, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: Surprise, surprise. Kershaw is easily baseball's best all-around starting pitcher by a mile. He'll likely come off the board in the middle of the first round in fantasy baseball drafts.

Dodgers | Held on to A.J. Ellis

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 06:40:13 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers C A.J. Ellis was a player the San Diego Padres were seeking in the trade involving OF Matt Kemp. The Dodgers wouldn't let him go because SP Clayton Kershaw and others would have been unhappy.
