"He is going to have some type of surgery, whether it is going to be [arthroscopic] or a Tommy John [elbow ligament replacement], we just don't know yet," general manager Dayton Moore said. "There will definitely be some type of scope, and then [we'll] evaluate it from there."

He will become the sixth general manager in the franchise's history. Moore will stay with the Braves until after next week's First-Year Player Draft. The Royals announced vice president of baseball operations Muzzy Jackson would serve as the interim general manager until then.
