"He is going to have some type of surgery, whether it is going to be [arthroscopic] or a Tommy John [elbow ligament replacement], we just don't know yet," general manager Dayton Moore said. "There will definitely be some type of scope, and then [we'll] evaluate it from there." "I really don't care about money," Moore said. "I don't concern myself with it. It's about competition. If we have a better alternative that makes our team better for the short term and long term, we'll do that." Royals | More on Grudzielanek injury The Associated Press reports Kansas City Royals 2B Mark Grudzielanek (knee) will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee March 5 and is expected to begin the season on the disabled list. General manager Dayton Moore said Grudzielanek likely will miss four to six weeks, meaning he'll be out the first 10 days to two weeks of the season. Royals | Team will wait on coaching decision Dick Kaegel, of KansasCity.Royals.MLB.com, reports Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore will wait at least 10 days before making an announcement on the coaching staff for the 2007 season. Moore would like to confer with manager Buddy Bell (throat) before he makes any decisions. Bell is currently recuperating from throat surgery. Royals | D. Moore named new general manager Dick Kaegel, of MLB.com, reports the Kansas City Royals have named Atlanta Braves assistant general manager Dayton Moore the new general manager. He will become the sixth general manager in the franchise's history. Moore will stay with the Braves until after next week's First-Year Player Draft. The Royals announced vice president of baseball operations Muzzy Jackson would serve as the interim general manager until then.
