He's going to explore his options, and it's important that we do as well." Guthrie is said to want a three-year contract, but the team doesn't want to go longer than two years.

If that happens, Ps Luis Mendoza, Nathan Adcock or Vin Mazzaro could be candidates for the rotation. Giavotella is a right-handed option, so he won't necessarily become the starter at second base. He was hitting .331 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in 31 games for Triple-A Omaha.
