Fri, 17 May 2013 13:31:32 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) has been cleared to drive after having two surgeries to fix a disc in his lower back. He started initial steps in his rehab process May 9, and he had pain in his legs following two operations in two weeks, but Dr. Drew Dossett explained it was normal. Harrison's pain has gone away in the last week. He may not return to the rotation until August.
Wed, 01 May 2013 15:10:34 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) had a setback with his back that required additional surgery Wednesday, May 1. There is no timetable for Harrison's return. An MRI showed another smaller herniation of a previously fixed disc. Fantasy Tip: It's believed that Harrison will still be out for around three months, meaning he will miss the rest of the first half of the season. He can be dropped in all leagues except for maybe deep AL-only formats. Colby Lewis (elbow) should be rejoining Texas' rotation soon and is a good replacement for Harrison in mixed leagues.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 13:30:17 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) will need to undergo back surgery Tuesday, April 23, to fix a herniated disc in his back. Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable on Harrison's return, but it's realistic that he won't return until after the All-Star break. This is a big blow to a rotation that was already lacking depth. Nick Tepesch and Justin Grimm will remain at the back end, but they are only worth rostering in AL-only leagues. Owners hanging onto Harrison in mixed formats can drop him at this point.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 12:20:03 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back), who is dealing with an inflamed nerve in his lower back, said he expects to be ready when he's eligible to come off the disabled list. He has been able to play catch and do some baseball activities in the meantime. He received an epidural injection this week when he visited with a spine specialist. Fantasy Tip: Harrison can probably be dropped in deep mixed leagues unless you have an open DL spot. His back issues may have been the reason for his slow start to the season and the reason he was leaving his fastball up in the zone to many hitters.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 08:47:43 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain. P Justin Grimm will start Thursday, April 11. Fantasy Tip: Harrison has been dealing with stiffness for a couple of weeks and was likely to miss his next start. The team decided to DL him, probably as a precaution. He should be back after his 15-day stint is up.

The Rangers had 43 strikeouts in the three-game series, breaking the major league record for the first three games of the season set by the 1966 Cleveland Indians pitching staff, which had 42.
Thu, 21 Mar 2013 16:18:50 -0700 Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington announced that SP Matt Harrison will start the team's opening day game against the Houston Astros March 31. SP Yu Darvish will pitch the next game.
Tue, 12 Mar 2013 11:42:25 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (toe) threw two innings in a B game and gave up two runs Tuesday, March 12, and he had no issues with the toe on his left foot. He will make his next spring start Saturday, March 16, which would put him in line to start the team's opening day game March 31 against the Houston Astros.
