Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert said the team will not offer impending free-agent CB Deshea Townsend a contract before the start of free agency. Colbert said the Steelers could offer Townsend a contract at some point during the offseason if he does not sign with another team.

Updating a previous item, Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, speculates the Pittsburgh Steelers will not re-sign impending free-agent CB Deshea Townsend before the free-agent market opens March 5. However, there is some interest in re-signing Townsend if he does not get a strong offer from another team.

Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers are willing to re-sign impending free-agent CB Deshea Townsend at a reduced rate but there is no sense of urgency to do so at this point. The team believes Townsend wants to return to the team.
