Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said some of his struggles recently are tied to the team's offensive line coach switch from Juan Castillo to Howard Mudd. "Because Howard and Juan are two totally different personalities and two totally different schemes," Vick said. "And they like their own caliber of players. It was different. But we lost Juan to the defense, so I had to go with what I had to go with." Vick added the personnel scheme negatively affected his play. "Obviously, yeah. Just being honest and candid about the situation," Vick said. "Things changed dramatically. It is what it is ... We all kind of gradually worked our way into it until we got comfortable. I had to learn new protection schemes, verbiage. And we shuffled around a lot of players. So everybody had to start all over."

John Oehser, of Colts.com, reports the Indianapolis Colts have given Tom Moore the title senior offensive coordinator and Howard Mudd the title senior offensive line coach. Head coach Jim Caldwell said, "They'll be doing the same thing they've been doing. The 'senior' tag is added because of the fact it gives a little latitude in case they want to delegate a few responsibilities, which had been going on anyway throughout the years."

ESPN.com reports Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said Saturday, June 6, that former coaches Tom Moore and Howard Mudd will begin their roles as team consultants Aug. 1, according to the Indianapolis Star. While Moore, the former offensive coordinator, and Mudd, the former offensive line coach, won't work under those titles any more, Irsay said they will perform similar duties. "They're coming back," Irsay said. "They're coming back as consultants and they're going to be involved big time. Jim Caldwell will determine what that will be."

Updating a previous report, ESPN.com reports Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said the team is still negotiating with former assistant coaches Tom Moore and Howard Mudd about returning to the team as consultants. Larry Kennan, executive director of the NFL Coaches Association, said that Moore and Mudd can return to the Colts as consultants but are not eligible to go back into the pension plan for six months.

The Associated Press reports Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning said Tuesday, May 26, that he would like to know more on the team's recent coaching changes. Manning acknowledged that the team is moving forward without longtime offensive coordinator Tom Moore and offensive line coach Howard Mudd but added the Colts could have done a better job clarifying their situation.
