Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports the Chicago Bears remain committed to QB Rex Grossman as their starting quarterback, but they'll look to bolster the all-important position this offseason in free agency and perhaps even the NFL Draft. General manager Jerry Angelo relayed that message to reporters at the NFL Combine Thursday, Feb. 23. "We've got to get that quarterback position stabilized," Angelo said. "If we don't get that stabilized, it's very hard to play around that." It seems that the ideal quarterback for the Bears would be one who's willing to accept a reserve role while possessing the ability and confidence to produce when called upon. Angelo told reporters that there's a chance the team won't acquire any quarterbacks and could line up again in 2006 with Grossman, QB Kyle Orton and QB Jeff Blake. The general manager also stressed that bolstering the position is not his lone objective.

"He will get the majority of the reps for this game. He hasn't gotten as many reps as Kyle, so this is an important week for him."
