Pete Schnatz, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports former Philadelphia Eagles TE Jeff Thomason has retired once again to be a project manager for a builder in Chesterfield, Burlington County. He is also working hard at being a triathlete. He was asked whether he was looking forward to another call from the Eagles in late January, like last season, to rejoin the team. "I say that I am retired [from football], but I thought I was done two years ago," he said. "If I can stay in shape, who knows?"

The Baltimore Sun reports Philadelphia Eagles TE Jeff Thomason will participate in about 15 plays during Super Bowl XXXIX Sunday, Feb. 6. Thomason signed a contract with the team last week to replace injured TE Chad Lewis (foot).

PhiladelphiaEagles.com reports Philadelphia Eagles TE Jeff Thomason says he will be ready to play 15-20 snaps at tight end and also contribute on special teams during the Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 6, against the New England Patriots. Thomason, who played with the Eagles from 2000-2002 and since then has worked as a project manager for a construction company, will replace injured TE Chad Lewis (foot) on the team's 53-man roster. He added that he has been training and participating in triathlons, so he should be fine with conditioning. "I know what is expected of me and it's perfect," said Thomason. "The fact that I'm replacing Chad, who is one of my dearest friends, means a lot to me. This is a very special situation." He will wear No. 85.

The Trenton Times reports the Cincinnati Bengals could reportedly approach the Philadelphia Eagles about a trade involving TE Jeff Thomason. If the Eagles are confident TE Tony Stewart can become a solid No. 2 tight end for them, Thomason could be expendable.

Phil Sheridan reports for the Philadelphia Inquirer, in addition to the previously reported injury to CB Troy Vincent (groin), the Philadelphia Eagles reported the following injuries following Saturday's game: TEs Chad Lewis (sprained shoulder) and Jeff Thomason (bruised calf) were nicked and backup QB A.J. Feeley (flu). Coach Andy Reid said he hoped to have linebacker and special teamer Ike Reese (foot) back this week.
