Bears | Hester could eventually surrender punt return duties

Wed, 15 Jul 2009 06:55:24 -0700

Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester said he would eventually like to give up his punt return duties, but not at this point. First, Hester says he would like to break the record for the most kick returns for touchdowns. The record is currently at 13 set by former NFL RB Brian Mitchell. "But with me right now, I feel like at punt returns there are going to be opportunities where we're going to need big returns," Hester said. "With all the success we've had at the return game, it would be real crazy to just give it up now. Plus I'm looking to break this record. In the back of my mind, I've got to get this record before I give (punt returns) up."

Giants | Fassel Considering Change At Punt Returner

Tue, 18 Nov 2003 06:49:39 -0800

Tara Sullivan, of the North Jersey Media Group, reports New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel said he is considering a change at punt returner, specifically, the replacement of KR Brian Mitchell with RB Delvin Joyce. "Some of it is just situational and Brian can't do anything about it," Fassel said. "Some of it is the blocking is not there and some of it is Brian. ... When I make a change I've got to see how much is totally on Brian, and how much of it is the help he is getting. It's like the quarterback, he's so dependent on so many people doing things for him. It's pretty hard to put the spotlight on him, but I have considered it, yes."
