Kevin Acee, writing for the Sporting News, reports San Diego Chargers PK Nate Kaeding has strengthened his core in an attempt to get more height and distance on his kicks for kickoffs. He will need to continue booming kickoffs into the end zone to keep PK Kurt Smith off the roster.

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers K Nate Kaeding is unhappy with the team selecting K Kurt Smith in the sixth-round of the 2006 draft. Kaeding has never been particularly adept at kickoffs, which happen to be Smith's specialty. Its possible the Chargers will carry both kickers next season.
