Cleveland Browns CB Dimitri Patterson (ankle) and DL Scott Paxson (knee) each left the preseason game in the first half against the Detroit Lions Friday, Aug. 10, with injuries. Patterson injured his ankle, while Paxson left with a knee issue. Paxson, who is in the hunt for a starting job along the defensive line, walked off on his own power.

Cleveland Browns DL Scott Paxson is expected to get first shot at replacing DL Phil Taylor (pectoral). While Taylor said he plans to return at some point, Browns executives are dubious. Paxson has never started a game in his NFL career.

Cleveland Browns DL Phil Taylor (pectoral) mentioned DL Scott Paxson as a possible replacement, playing next to DL Ahtyba Rubin at defensive tackle. Taylor is expected to miss a chunk of the season after surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. DLs John Hughes and Billy Winn are also in the mix, and they are all expected to compete for the job in training camp and the preseason.
