Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said he is optimistic about the 2012 season and as a result, did not want to shuffle his coaching staff too much. Reid confirmed he will retain defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. "I saw us get better," Reid said, when asked about the job Castillo did in 2011. "We had some moving parts on the defensive side, I understood that."

The Philadelphia Eagles hired Miami Dolphins interim head coach Todd Bowles as their new secondary coach Monday, Jan. 30. Defensive coordinator Juan Castillo will remain with the team in his current position. Secondary/safeties coach Michael Zordich will also stay with the staff.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo could join the Minnesota Vikings in the same capacity if the Eagles hire former St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo. Castillo has been close with Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier since their days together on the Eagles' staff from 1999 to 2002. According to league sources, there was mutual interest in a reunion shortly after Frazier was promoted from interim coach last January, to the point Castillo told people close to him he expected to end up in Minnesota.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid was adamant Wednesday, Oct. 12, that the team is not looking for a defensive consultant to work with embattled defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. "There was no defensive consultant thing," Reid said. "Nothing. Zero. I haven't talked to anybody."

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has engaged in discussions with the team's front office on whether to bring in a defensive consultant if the team continues its struggles in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins, according to sources. The team has a bye week following the game and Reid is seeking solutions that can help defensive coordinator Juan Castillo in his first year, the sources said. However, Reid, through a team spokesman, said Tuesday, Oct. 11, he was not hiring a defensive consultant and wanted to note that fixing 12 turnovers generated by the offense in four straight losses was a high priority.

Reuben Frank, of Phillyburbs.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles LB Jeremiah Trotter got into a shouting match with offensive line coach Juan Castillo during afternoon practice Thursday, July 27, after Trotter yelled at the refs working practice that OG Max Jean-Gilles had committed a penalty. Head coach Andy Reid repeatedly yelled at Trotter to shut up, then took him aside, put his arm around him, and had a private word with him.

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports USC OT Winston Justice said he will continue his pre-draft visit with the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday, April 12. He will be back today for another meeting with offensive line coach Juan Castillo. "I left with a great impression," Justice said. "I spent a lot of time with Juan, and the facility was nice." Justice said he was one of seven draft-eligible players to visit.
