Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said that run-game coordinator Juan Castillo will be making slight adjustments to the running game in 2013. "I'm looking forward to executing a lot of different things that we've always talked about," Rice said, "and staying at a high level."

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said consultant Juan Castillo rejected other job opportunities in order to join the Ravens. "He had lots of opportunities, I can tell you that, on both sides of the ball to be a lot of different things because that's the kind of coach he is," Harbaugh said. "It ranges from assistant head coach, an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator and those things are all things that to a coach of his caliber, those were opportunities that he had, and he chose to come here."

The Baltimore Ravens have hired former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo. Castillo will serve as a consultant until after Super Bowl XLVII and will be the team's run game coordinator starting next season.

Chiefs | Andy Reid could bring familiar coaches with him

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid could look to bring some of his former assistant coaches with the Philadelphia Eagles with him to Kansas City. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur will likely be lured to the Chiefs by Reid, as well as Browns offensive coordinator Brad Childress. Doug Pederson, who was an assistant coach in Philadelphia in 2009, could be another option. Reid has reportedly made an offer to former Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo to become the offensive line coach.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said some of his struggles recently are tied to the team's offensive line coach switch from Juan Castillo to Howard Mudd. "Because Howard and Juan are two totally different personalities and two totally different schemes," Vick said. "And they like their own caliber of players. It was different. But we lost Juan to the defense, so I had to go with what I had to go with." Vick added the personnel scheme negatively affected his play. "Obviously, yeah. Just being honest and candid about the situation," Vick said. "Things changed dramatically. It is what it is ... We all kind of gradually worked our way into it until we got comfortable. I had to learn new protection schemes, verbiage. And we shuffled around a lot of players. So everybody had to start all over."

Eagles | Friction between Jim Washburn, Juan Castillo?

The two Philadelphia Eagles assistant coaches who were fired this season - former defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and defensive line coach Jim Washburn - reportedly did not get along. Washburn would either ignore Castillo entirely or confront him in a condescending manner, and Washburn would also call Castillo "Juanita" in front of players, according to a veteran defensive player. He was condescending and confrontational and embarrassed Castillo frequently in meetings and at practice and also went over the line criticizing his players at times.
