Free-agent DL Cullen Jenkins (Eagles) is not likely to return to the Packers after being cut by the Eagles Monday, Feb. 25, according to Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press Gazette. Vandermause points out Packers general manager Ted Thompson let Jenkins go in free agency two years ago, and that Thompson historically does not sign 32-year- old players. Vandermause also suggests the team will likely look to fill their need on the defensive line with a younger player.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said WR Randall Cobb is arguably the best draft pick during general manager Ted Thompson's tenure. "Randall is probably going to go down as one of the better picks in Ted Thompson's career, if not the best," Rodgers said of the 64th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. "I think to get him where we got him, the kind of person that he is, the approach that he has, his knowledge of the game, what he adds to our team, his locker room presence, he is a personnel and a coach's dream."

Green Bay Packers team president Mark Murphy said Monday, Feb. 7, that head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson would both get contract extensions following the team's win in Super Bowl XLV, reports Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I deal with Ted and he deals with Mike," Murphy said. "I want both of them to be with the Green Bay Packers long-term."

Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson said he has spoken with former San Francisco 49ers general manager Scot McCloughan recently "as a friend" but "not from a business standpoint." Technically, McCloughan remains an employee of the 49ers and would not be able to discuss job opportunities with any team. The Packers haven't yet filled the opening left behind by former director of football operations John Schneider, who left to become general manager of the Seattle Seahawks. Thompson said he wasn't certain whether the job will be filled. "We'll see," Thompson said. "It depends on how we make it through the spring. We're functioning pretty well right now."

Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports the Green Bay Packers might take their time in replace John Schneider, who left to become general manager for the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers have a second director of football operations already on their staff with Reggie McKenzie. General manager Ted Thompson said, "We're going to take our time. We have really good people in place right now, and we'll see how it goes. If we think we need to do something, we might do it. If we think we're OK, we might just sit tight."

The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson is not ruling out the possibility of adding free-agent QB Michael Vick (Falcons). When asked Tuesday, Aug. 4, about the possibility of signing Vick, Thompson said the team looks "at all options at all times" but didn't want to speculate about the odds of the team actually pursuing him. "We look at everything," Thompson said.
