Toronto Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen (shoulder) has been fighting his way through shoulder issues all season after he had surgery in the offseason to shave down the collarbone in his right shoulder. "I'm managing it," Janssen said. "I think this whole season is going to be a grind, but I have more good days than bad days. Every once in a while, I'll wake up for no reason and not feel amazing, but no one feels amazing now that we're into August. I'm no different, but we're just coming out and competing." Janssen has missed games here and there, and manager John Gibbons doesn't like to warm up his closer unless he's coming into the game. He plans to do rigorous workouts in the offseason to increase the strength in his shoulder.

The Toronto Blue Jays activated RP Sergio Santos (elbow) from the 60-day disabled list Thursday, Aug. 1, and placed SP Dustin McGowan (side) on the 15-day disabled list and moved SP Brandon Morrow (forearm) to the 60-day DL in corresponding moves.
Fantasy Tip: Santos will return to a setup role to Casey Janssen. Santos won't have much fantasy value. Morrow's season is effectively over with this move.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said RP Casey Janssen (shoulder) has been dealing with "general soreness" and was not available Tuesday, May 28. However, the team hopes to have Janssen Wednesday, May 29.
Fantasy Tip: With Sergio Santos (elbow) still on the DL, there aren't many options suitable for closer duties if Janssen were to miss extended time. The immediate pick-up for those desperate for saves would be Steve Delabar, but with Janssen expected to be OK, that's a move that should be made only for the truly desperate in very deep mixed leagues.

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (elbow) will likely undergo surgery this week, and he's expected to be out for six weeks, and maybe less. The team won't have a firm timetable until after his surgery.
Fantasy Tip: At this point, if you were hanging onto Santos as a handcuff to Casey Janssen in a deep mixed league, you can safely cut bait and add a more valuable arm.

Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (elbow) will undergo surgery on his right elbow to have bone spurs and chips cleaned out, but he won't miss the rest of the season.
Fantasy Tip: Santos has been unable to remain healthy since joining the Blue Jays last season. It's unclear exactly how long he's expected to be sidelined. Stay tuned for more info on a timetable. Casey Janssen has performed well in the closer's role and doesn't have any threats to take his job with Santos sidelined.

Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (triceps) said he's thrown three bullpen sessions and expects to pitch in a rehab game Thursday, May 9. However, he still feels his triceps issue a bit, but is strong enough to pitch.
Fantasy Tip: Toronto will likely choose to be cautious in bringing Santos back based on his recent injury history. When he returns, expect him to go back to being the eighth-inning setup man since Casey Janssen has performed well in the closer's role. Santos will remain a handcuff to Janssen in deep mixed leagues until further notice.
