Lions | Matt Prater has four field goals |
Sun, 04 Dec 2016 14:55:11 -0800
Detroit Lions PK Matt Prater kicked four field goals Sunday, Dec. 4, in a 28-13 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Fantasy Tip: Prater remains a safe bet for fantasy owners, who have come to see Prater rarely miss a field goal or extra point. In this day and age of kickers missing PATs, this is a good sign. If you need a strong kicker to close out your season or go to the playoffs, pick up Prater if he is available.

Lions | Matt Prater likely to play |
Wed, 02 Dec 2015 14:22:41 -0800
Detroit Lions PK Matt Prater (illness) is likely to play in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers Thursday, Dec. 3, considering the Packers haven't signed another kicker this week. Prater was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2, and is questionable for the game Thursday.
Fantasy Tip: Prater has made all 14 of his field goal attempts this year but is just 22-for-25 on extra points. As Detroit's offense has struggled this year, Prater hasn't been a very good fantasy booter as a result. Now battling an illness, he's not a recommended play.

Lions | Matt Prater has mixed results |
Sun, 15 Nov 2015 14:52:20 -0800
Detroit Lions PK Matt Prater missed two extra points yet hit for two field goals from 49 and 51 yards in an 18-16 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Nov. 15.
Fantasy Tip: Kickers have no value in FantasyScore, but you likely have them in other leagues, and Prater has been a mixed bag as the Lions move forward in the post-Jason Hanson era. Unless Prater falls apart he won't be cut by the team, and the fact he has drained all 10 of his field goals is a great sign.

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 09:06:24 -0800

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 23:49:10 -0800
Free-agent PK Matt Prater (Lions) had his agent meet with general manager Martin Mayhew at the NFL Scouting Combine Friday, Feb. 20.
Fantasy Tip: Prater has already said he wants to re-sign with the Lions, and the team believes he could have Pro Bowl versatility. After a rough start Prater racked up 84 points in 11 games and missed only five field goals. Three of those came in the early weeks, meaning Prater got better as he went along. Prater could be a solid pickup given a full 16-game schedule.

Lions | Matt Prater struggles in debut |
Sun, 12 Oct 2014 13:41:11 -0700
Detroit Lions PK Matt Prater missed two field goal attempts in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings in his team debut. One miss was wide right from 50 yards, and the other from 44 yards was off the left upright. He was able to convert a 52-yard field goal in the first half, and he added two extra points. "We have all the confidence in the world on him," head coach Jim Caldwell said Sunday, Oct. 12.
Fantasy Tip: Prater has a huge leg, but showed a little bit of rust. He remains a Top 10 fantasy option in all formats going forward despite the misses.

Lions | Matt Prater staying sober |
Wed, 08 Oct 2014 20:21:59 -0700
New Detroit Lions PK Matt Prater said Wednesday, Oct. 8, that he has not had a drink in "over a month and a half", since he voluntarily entered a 12-step recovery program for alcohol addiction in Florida.
Fantasy Tip: Prater is the third kicker of the season for the Lions, as Nate Freese and Alex Henery combined for just four field goals on 12 attempts through the first five weeks. Prater converted 25 of his 26 field goal attempts for the Denver Broncos last season, and he tied the NFL record with a 64-yard field last December. He is a fantastic fantasy option.

Broncos | Matt Prater being released |
Fri, 03 Oct 2014 10:47:39 -0700
Denver Broncos PK Matt Prater is being released before he comes off his four-game suspension, according to a source. PK Brandon McManus has won the team's kicking job.
Fantasy Tip: Prater can be dropped by any owners that were stashing him in standard leagues. McManus can be considered a weekly play in daily leagues because of the Broncos' ability to put up points and get into scoring position often.
