Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports competition for the team's wide receiver spots will be wide open during training camp. "It's wide open,'' head coach Jack Del Rio said. "I think (new receivers coach) Todd Monken has done a great job of being very blunt, open and honest about it. We're searching for somebody to emerge coming out of the OTAs. The guy who's really stepped up and really put himself into the picture is Charles Sharon. He's a guy who's earned his opportunity and look in camp."

The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Charles Sharon was charged with grand theft of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm after Tampa authorities found a handgun under the seat of his sport utility vehicle during a drug-related search Saturday, March 10. Sharon and a companion were arrested after a police officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle, according to a police report. A search of the vehicle turned up a Glock Model 27 handgun under the driver's seat that had been reported stolen from a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent in Putnam County last year, the report said. Sharon was released Sunday, March 11, after paying a $4,000 bond. Sharon is the fourth Jaguars player to be arrested since the start of the 2006 season.

The Associated Press reports Jacksonville Jaguars rookie WR Charles Sharon caught a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Jaguars past the Falcons 20-17 in the battle of the backups Thursday evening, Aug. 31. Sharon took advantage of his opportunity by catching touchdown passes on 11 and 8 yards. He added a 26-yard reception that helped run out the clock. "I think it was a good idea, so young guys could get in and get some experience," Sharon said. "And it may have kept some guys from getting injured. I really liked the decision." Sharon was referring to the fact that both teams rested their starting players.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Bowling Green WR Charles Sharon measured a height of 6-0 1/4 and a weight of 181 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash with times of 4.68 seconds and 4.59 seconds while completing the short shuttle in 3.95 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.69 seconds. He measured a 31 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-10 broad jump.
