Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones indicated OG Nate Livings (knee) could be dealing with a degenerative condition in his knee. "You'd ask yourself, 'Is there a degeneration in the knee, as opposed to a fix of an injury that comes back as good as new?' I think he's having some of that, a degeneration," Jones said. "But that's not uncommon at all at this point in his career, so a combination of those things puts a little guesswork into when he might be back."

Dallas Cowboys OG Nate Livings (knee) will have a second surgery on his right knee in six months, according to sources. His last surgery was in February, and he aggravated his knee during organized team activities in May. Typical recovery time for a knee scope is two to four weeks, putting his Week 1 status in doubt. OG Ronald Leary (back), who is competing with Livings for the starting spot, returned to practice this week. OT Jermey Parnell (hamstring) has missed most of the practices in camp, C Ryan Cook (back) has an achy back and OG Kevin Kowalski (knee) is out two to four weeks with a bruised knee.

Dallas Cowboys OT Demetress Bell, DL L.P. Ladouceur (calf), OL Ronald Leary (calf), OG Nate Livings (foot) and WR Lavasier Tuinei did not practice Tuesday, July 23. Bell and Tuinei failed the conditioning test, while the other three have yet to take it due to their injuries. All five remain on the non-football injury (NFI) list.
