Giants | Team worked out P. Alexander

Bill Cole, of the Winston-Salem Journal, reports the New York Giants conducted a pre-draft workout with Duke DE Phillip Alexander. The Giants are the only team that took a close look at Alexander on their own. In late March at Wallace Wade Stadium, at least six teams, the Giants among them, watched Alexander work out. Alexander, 6-4 and 265, was encouraged after talking to the NFL coaches and personnel who were in Durham, North Carolina.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Duke DL/LB Phillip Alexander measured a height of 6-3 1/2 and a weight of 274 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash with times of 4.82 seconds and 4.83 seconds while finishing the short shuttle in 4.15 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.10 seconds. He measured a 37-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-5 broad jump while completing 25 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.
