Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports there are no indications free-agent WR Marvin Harrison (Colts) is close to a deal with a team. "I'm not surprised," said analyst Charley Casserly. "When I watch him as a player and look at the package, he's not going to get any better at this point in his career. He's been injury-prone the last two years. He's missed time. That has to be a consideration when you're going to sign a guy."

The position was vacated when Art Shell left to coach the Oakland Raiders.

Casserly is awaiting word on whether he'll become the NFL's vice president of football operations in New York in coming weeks. Washington, D.C. will be the Casserly's' eventual retirement home. A media job is always available for Casserly. However, Casserly is an NFL exec with little interest in life outside the league. "It's not over yet," he said of his career. "I still love the game and there are things I still want to do. There are a lot of things I like about the job."

Ron Borges, of the Boston Globe, reports former Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly's last day with the Texans was Wednesday, May 31, and he attended the team's OTAs daily until he left. On the final day, owner Bob McNair and new head coach Gary Kubiak asked Casserly to come to the practice field. When they brought him out, Kubiak told the players that none of them would be in Houston if not for Casserly. After receiving a strong ovation, Casserly was asked to address the team, something he said he'd never done in 30 years in the NFL.
