Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did not say where DE Derrick Burgess will be used but said he is productive player with versatility. "I think he can rush the passer. He's had a lot of production. He's primarily rushed off the left side. Normally you see more pass-rush production off the right side but he has been able to produce quite a bit from the left side. Those are some of the things that are unique to him. I'm not saying that's exactly what is going to happen with us. I don't know. We'll have to wait and see how all that turns out," Belichick said.

Updating a previous report, Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports, as of now, the New England Patriots have traded a third-round and fourth-round draft pick in 2010 to the Oakland Raiders for DE Derrick Burgess. However, if the Patriots are able to acquire a 2010 fifth-round draft choice, then that choice would go to the Raiders and the Patriots would get to keep their fourth-round pick.
