The Times Picayune reports New Orleans Saints backup C Bubba Miller (foot surgery) is feeling much better. He thinks he is close to regaining the form that made him a full-time starter in Philadelphia two years ago. "Hopefully in another week or two I'll be all the way back to feeling the way I did before the injury," Miller said. "All the hard work is paying off."

The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans looked at free agent C Bubba Miller before he signed with New Orleans and before they signed Jeff Smith. Titans team doctors checked on Miller's broken ankle and told Miller to come back in a couple of weeks to be re-evaluated. Miller did not want to wait so he signed with the Saints. Miller said he expects to be ready for training camp in July but still has several weeks of rehab left.

Updating previous reports, the Times-Picayune reports the New Orleans Saints have signed free agent C Bubba Miller to a one-year, $650,000 deal. He'll count $450,000 against the team's salary cap this year. Miller (broken ankle) is expected to be at full-speed by the start of training camp.

According to Pete Prisco of SportsLine.com the New Orleans Saints have reached a contract agreement with free agent C Bubba Miller (Eagles). He will sign a one-year, $750,000 contract that will count $450,000 against the team's 2002 cap. It is expected he will compete with C Jerry Fontenot for the starting center position in training camp. The Saints agreed to extend the deal if Miller were to become a starter in 2002. Miller is still not completely healed from his 2001 broken fibula, but he is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

The Trenton Times reports Philadlephia Eagles DE Ndukwe Kalu now has a removable cast on his ankle. Coach Andy Reid is hoping to have him back for Sunday's season opener, but that's not likely. Starting OLB Ike Reese had to miss practice due to swollen eye and a concussion, but he's expected back tomorrow. CB Al Harris sat out yesterday's practice with back spasms. DB Jason Bostic (knee) and WR Gari Scott (shoulder) both returned to practice yesterday for the first time in over a week. Hank Fraley is now expected to be the starter at center for the injured Bubba Miller (on IR) with Jim Pyne backing him up.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Philadelphia Eagles starting C Bubba Miller out for at least two months with a fractured right ankle, coach Andy Reid said he was going to evaluate possible replacements and make a decision after that. However, the frontrunner is C Hank Fraley who replaced Miller in last nightís game and itís Fraley who has been consistently the best backup offensive lineman throughout camp, according to Reid.

The Associated Press reports the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Jets 13-12 last night. Eagles rookie QB A.J. Feeley threw a 16-yard TD pass to Sean Scott with 23 seconds left to give the Eagles the win. Feeley was 8-of-16 for 104 yards, one TD and one interception. Ron Powlus, competing with Feely for the third-string job, finished 2-of-7 for 21 yards. Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was 4-of-6 for 26 yards. RB Duce Staley had two carries for 35 yards and caught one pass for 6 yards. As previously reported, Eagles C Bubba Miller fractured his right ankle and he will have surgery on Friday. He is expected to miss about two months.

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles starting C Bubba Miller fractured his right ankle in the first quarter of Philadelphia's pre-season game tonight. He was carted off the field and taken for X-rays that revealed the fracture. There was no immediate word on the severity of the fracture. The injury didn't appear to be related to the playing surface at Veterans Stadium.

Phillyburbs.com reports head coach Andy Reid praised the offensive line for its effort in the win over Tampa Bay, particularly the play of Bubba Miller, Jermane Mayberry and the under-rated John Welbourn. Reid reported no serious injuries other than RB Stanely Pritchett's broken leg. TE Chad Lewis (stinger) and WR Charles Johnson (ankle) were both in Monday for treatment and should be fine for Sunday.
