Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports New York Giants SS Shaun Williams (knee) is leaning towards season-ending surgery on his ailing right knee after an MRI on Tuesday, Nov. 18, revealed cartilage damage. Williams injured the knee in Week 11, but remained on the field. FS Johnnie Harris is expected to start in Williams' absence.

The Daily News reports one of New York Giants RB Ron Dayne's agents, Terry Lavenstein, said Dayne's missing the Giants voluntary off-season workout program should not be seen as him holding out. "He's not holding out," Dayne's agent, Lavenstein said Tuesday. "He will fulfill the remaining two years on his contract. Whatever he's required to do, he'll do. Whatever he's not required to do, he won't do." Lavenstein said Dayne has been working out in Dallas with two teammates, TE MarcellusRivers and S Johnnie Harris. Giants GM Ernie Accorsi declined to comment on Dayne's decision.

"That's been my (goal) all year," Harris said. "I've always wanted to be the starter. I just didn't get the chance. Now, I have to rise to the occasion." "I don't feel like I need to be benched," Pope said. Pope said he now is relegated to playing primarily on third-down and goal-line plays.

John Ryan reports for the San Jose Mercury News a long list of injured players, 14 to be exact, caused the Oakland Raiders to shorten practice earlier today. The most notable among the missing were CB Charles Woodson (toe), LG Steve Wisniewski (ankle) and KR David Dunn (quadriceps), all of whom are questionable for the Raiders game Sunday at Seattle. Coach Jon Gruden said it does not look too good for Woodson. "I have not ever seen him injured. I don't know how this injury is going to persist," said Gruden. If Woodson can't play or if his role is limited, Tory James would replace him in the starting lineup. Either Johnnie Harris and Derrick Gibson would then take Woodson's nickel back spot.

Starting SS Marquez Pope left last night's game after aggravating a hamstring injury that cropped up during practice Thursday. Johnnie Harris played in his place despite lingering injuries to his sternum and shoulder. Frank Middleton made his second consecutive surprise start at right guard in place of Mo Collins, who was inactive because of hamstring tendinitis. S Derrick Gibson (broken hand) played only on special teams.

The San Jose Mercury News reports Oakland Raiders RG Mo Collins' injury has been diagnosed as hamstring tendinitis. "I don't know what that is, honestly, but we do expect Mo to be able to practice and play," coach Jon Gruden said. Reserve S Derrick Gibson, who broke a bone in his left hand, is expected to play Sunday night at Indianapolis. Another reserve safety, Johnnie Harris, is questionable because of a bruised sternum and a lingering shoulder injury. Starting FS Anthony Dorsett is probable despite bruised ribs. DT Rod Coleman (strained hamstring) is questionable.

The Sun-Sentinel reports the NFL decided not to fine Oakland Raiders S Johnnie Harris for his hit on Dolphins QB Jay Fiedler nine days ago in the Dolphins 18-15 victory. The Dolphins had submitted the play to the NFL for review because Harris delivered a blow to the head while Fiedler was trying to slide.

The Sun-Sentinel reports the Miami Dolphins will ask the NFL to review a play from Sunday's game where QB Jay Fiedler took a blow to the head. Fiedler was clocked by Oakland Raiders S Johnnie Harris while trying to slide at the end of a 6-yard run. Fiedler was dazed, prompting the team to call a timeout with 2:37 remaining. "We’re going to turn that play in, not because we’re complaining,” Wannstedt said. “It’s just for clarification from the league. He was going into his slide when guys hit him. I think that’s a judgment call by the official. Is it when your butt hits or when your knee hits? Was he going down when they hit him? Probably. I don’t think it was an illegal hit.”

The Contra Costa Times' Steve Corkran reports Oakland Raiders OT Lincoln Kennedy said his bruised right shoulder is fine and he'll play against the New York Jets on Sunday. DT Roderick Coleman maintains his pectoral strain is healed enough for him to play, but Coach Jon Gruden said he isn't convinced. Gruden said Coleman again will be listed as doubtful for Sunday's game, but there is a slight chance he could play. C Barret Robbins broke a bone in his right hand against the Chiefs. He said he won't take any extra precautions and expects to play against the Jets. Backup DB Johnnie Harris underwent an MRI for an hamstring injury he sustained Sunday. FB Zack Crockett and defensive end Josh Taves are suffering from bruised ribs but likely will play Sunday, Gruden said.
