Wed, 16 Jan 2013 09:21:25 -0800 The Buffalo Bills have hired Syracuse defensive backs coach Donnie Henderson as their defensive backs coach, former Rice defensive coordinator Chuck Driesbach as one of their linebackers coach, Syracuse running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley as their running backs coach, New York Jets assistant defensive backs coach Jim O'Neil as their one of their linebackers coach, Syracuse offensive line coach Greg Adkins as their tight ends coach, Towson secondary coach Brian Fleury as a defensive quality control coach, Jets coaching assistant Samson Brown as their assistant defensive backs coach and Syracuse defensive assistant Jason Rebrovich as a defensive quality control coach. They have also named assistant coach Eric Ciano as strength and conditioning coach.

Wheatley played in just eight games due to injuries and rushed for 327 yards during 2004. He will turn 33 in January.

Wheatley, who was originally said to be questionable Monday, was downgraded to out after an MRI revealed what head coach Norv Turner said was "technically a tear." Turner called it a "two- to three-week injury" but said Wheatley could be a candidate for injured reserve if the club needed the roster spot because of further injuries.

The injury appeared serious, but head coach Norv Turner said Wheatley would be listed as questionable for Week 13. Turner would not specify whether hamstring was torn or pulled.

Head coach Norv Turner believes the situation will resolve itself this summer. "I think there's a bunch of guys that see themselves as our starting tailback, and I think it'll work out when we get to camp," Turner said. "And I think when you have competition, and you have guys who've played, you have an opportunity to come up with a featured runner. That's our goal. If we don't come up with that, I do know we have guys who have been productive." Wheatley seemingly is the favorite heading into camp.
Mon, 17 May 2004 16:09:54 -0700 Jean-Jacques Taylor, of the Dallas Morning News, reports Oakland Raiders RB Troy Hambrick's agent, Jordan Woy, said his client joining the Raiders was the "best situation" for him. He noted the Raiders want him to come in and compete with RB Tyrone Wheatley for the starting job. "They have a big, huge offensive line, and it fit perfectly for Troy and his skills," Woy said.
