The Contra Costa Times reports the Oakland Raiders have hired University of Nebraska wide receivers coach Ted Gilmore, according to sources close to the school. Gilmore would likely replace assistant coach Fred Biletnikoff, who retired last week.

The Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders wide receivers coach Fred Biletnikoff has retired as the team's coach. He spent 32 years with the franchise and finished second in team history with 589 career receptions. He will stay involved in the organization and will also spend time working with his charities.

Mark Purdy, of the Mercury News, reports Oakland Raiders DT Warren Sapp was not in favor of the four-game suspension handed out to WR Jerry Porter by head coach Art Shell. "That's way overblown,'' Sapp said. "There's nothing he did that warranted four games. That's just my opinion. I'm entitled to that. There's been worse said on a football field.'' Porter is believed to have used curse words during practice Friday, Oct. 13, directed towards Shell and wide receivers coach Fred Biletnikoff.
