Pittsburgh Pirates RP Evan Meek (shoulder) is likely to rejoin the team Sunday, May 22, and be activated from the disabled list Tuesday, May 24. "He will throw back to back games on Friday and Saturday," manager Clint Hurdle said today of Meek's schedule in Indianapolis. "If he comes out well from all of that, he will rejoin us on Sunday. We have Monday off and he will be fit for duty on Tuesday."

RPs Daniel Moskos or Jose Ascanio are both in danger of being sent down to make room for Meek.

Pittsburgh Pirates RP Jose Ascanio (shoulder) reported feeling fine after his first big-league appearance in more than a year Friday, May 13, when he threw 10 of 12 pitches for strikes and blew through three hitters in the Milwaukee Brewers fifth inning.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are expected to make a decision on RP Jose Ascanio (face), as he has completed his minor league rehab assignment. The thinking is that he'll re-join the Pirates bullpen, since he is out of options and the team would have to risk losing him to another team through waivers. "Sometimes you make (a move so) that you don't lose anybody and you take a look at the guy that you need to take a look at," manager Clint Hurdle said.
