Wed, 25 Jun 2014 15:19:36 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley is excited about the wide receiver position heading into training camp. It could be a position of strength for the team. "It's as deep a group as I've been around from top to bottom," Haley said near the end of offseason practices. "I think some guys that are pretty good football players probably won't make the team."

Tue, 10 Dec 2013 09:40:29 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he has no issues with offensive coordinator Todd Haley, and his comments were taken out of context. "It's unbelievable," Roethlisberger said. "It gets blown up and it's by reporters that come in there and ask the dumbest questions after a game, and it makes it ridiculous when they only take part of your answer. "It was taken way out of context. There is absolutely no issue between coach Haley and I. I love where this offense is right now."

Steelers | Changing blocking style

Thu, 19 Sep 2013 13:40:48 -0700

The Pittsburgh Steelers have decided to change their run-blocking scheme after running for only 75 yards in 31 attempts in the first two weeks of the season. As a result, the Steelers will shrink their playbook and use more outside zone running plays. Since C Maurkice Pouncey (knee) was injured in the season opener, offensive coordinator Todd Haley hasn't called a single zone blocking play. "We're going to use that a lot more," OT Marcus Gilbert said. "We barely used it in first two games. That will really help us out. Teams saw we were a gap, downhill team. Now, we can throw different stuff at them and change it up."

Thu, 19 Sep 2013 09:39:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown and offensive coordinator Todd Haley reportedly met and smoothed over the tension after a sideline argument in Week 2. "We're good," Brown said. "We just talked about some things we could do better as a whole and what we could do to get on the right page to start winning." Brown voiced his frustration to Haley in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals because he felt he wasn't getting the ball enough. Brown caught a team-high six passes and was thrown to nine times in the game.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger has input in offense

Wed, 29 May 2013 12:06:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger met with offensive coordinator Todd Haley several times this offseason and had a lot of input into what worked and what did not last season. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said Haley is giving Roethlisberger more control at the line of scrimmage in terms of check downs and hot reads.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger was playing well before his injury last season but did not look completely comfortable with Haley's offense. He lost Mike Wallace this offseason, and Heath Miller's (knee) availability for Week 1 is uncertain, which hurts his value. He should be seen as a weak No. 2 quarterback entering drafts.

Cardinals | Todd Haley's demands high

Tue, 15 Jan 2013 10:21:09 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley made some lofty demands when he met with the Arizona Cardinals for their head coaching position last week, making him unlikely to get the job. Haley apparently did this because he's happy in his role with the Steelers and doesn't want to leave unless he has an offer he can't pass up.

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not make the playoffs this season with an 8-8 record, the team's worst record in the past six years; however, owner Art Rooney II gave a vote of confidence to head coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. "I think Mike did a good job," Rooney said. "I certainly still have a high level of confidence in Mike. I know he is working as hard as he can already, just to figure out how we can get back on the right track." As for Haley, the owner said the offense functioned at a pretty high level and was hurt by the absence of QB Ben Roethlisberger due to injury.

Steelers | Is Byron Leftwich a good fit?

Wed, 14 Nov 2012 07:36:30 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Byron Leftwich does not appear to be a good fit for offensive coordinator Todd Haley's scheme. The system relies on short and quick passes, while Leftwich is someone who doesn't get rid of the ball quickly. The team is confident, however, that the offense won't have to change with Leftwich starting.

Mon, 22 Oct 2012 09:57:07 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he is not concerned about any potential rift between QB Ben Roethlisberger and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Roethlisberger recently described Haley's offense as dink and dunk, and there has been perceived friction between the two for some time. "I'm not worried about those interactions. If (problems) hadn't happened already, I'm sure at some point it will, and it won't be catastrophic," Tomlin said. "I'm sure we'll all move on."

Thu, 27 Sep 2012 05:52:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and offensive coordinator Todd Haley are getting along after a rough start to their relationship. Haley said he is communicating well with his quarterback despite Roethlisberger steering away from Haley's game plan in favor of hand signals from former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians' playbook in Week 3. "He knows when he's hearing my voice in his headset and giving him a call that I'm putting him in the best position for him to succeed," Haley said. "I have to trust him that when I make the call, he's going to make it work. At this point, it's been really good, and I expect it to continue."

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger denies rift with OC

Wed, 26 Sep 2012 05:28:03 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger denied there is rift brewing between himself and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Roethlisberger adopted some of former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians' terminology to call no-huddle plays in Week 3. Roethlisberger admits he talks with Arians on a weekly basis. "I really didn't think it would get blown up as much as it did, and I know some people are saying that I've been resistant to Todd," Roethlisberger said. "But it's one of those things that we went to Todd, and it's in the playbook now. It was simply a signal that I used with our receivers on two different occasions. One was on the fourth-and-1, we got the ball to Mike (Wallace). The other one was later on third down to Emmanuel (Sanders). We converted both plays. It worked out."

Steelers | OC thinks Mike Wallace can play Week 1

Wed, 29 Aug 2012 09:25:21 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley believes WR Mike Wallace could be ready for Week 1 because of the nature of the position he plays. "You're talking about a guy who's a wide receiver, a pass-catcher," Haley said. "It's not a running back or someone who has to be in the action of the game. I think it's feasible he's ready to go when we start this thing up."

Thu, 02 Aug 2012 06:03:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown said the perception of offensive coordinator Todd Haley as a confrontational person could not be more wrong to this point. "Todd's really a cool guy - shaking guy's hands, communicating with guys, putting in that extra time for guys, visiting with guys," Brown said. "You can't go off of what you hear about a person until you really get to meet him, and, since I met this guy, he's been first class."

Wed, 01 Aug 2012 06:24:17 -0700

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been spending time in training camp working on the no-huddle offense. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley said the no-huddle will be a big part of the offense. "(Roethlisberger) has shown a propensity to do that at a high level," Haley said of the no-huddle. '"Ideally, if you have a quarterback like Ben and what he's done, when he's in full control, that's a good situation to be in because he's right in the middle of it and seeing what's going on."

Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II said he had nothing to do with the hiring of Todd Haley as offensive coordinator. Rooney added he was a bit surprised that head coach Mike Tomlin hired Haley. "I think the bottom line is, Mike was comfortable that's who he wanted to come in," Rooney said. "It may be fair to say that when he started the discussions and Todd's name was on his original list, I don't think he expected that Todd was the guy he was going to wind up hiring. But as he had more conversations with him, he became more comfortable that he was the right guy for the job."

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger wants continuity

Fri, 10 Feb 2012 08:36:43 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he hopes new offensive coordinator Todd Haley does not drastically change the team's philosophy on offense. Roethlisberger feels players, particularly the young receiving corps, could have trouble adjusting to a new scheme. "It would probably be easy for him to do," Roethlisberger said about Haley possibly introducing a new offense to the Steelers. "I don't know if it would be easy for us to learn it. We're so young on offense and the most-talented room in this whole building is probably wide receiver, no disrespect to anyone else. And they're also really young. They're still the tip of the iceberg in this offense and they did as well as they did last year. And they're just getting to the point that 'OK, this makes sense to me.'"
