Houston Texans P Shane Lechler said Tuesday, March 26, that he never heard from his old team, the Oakland Raiders, during free agency. "I wasn't hearing anything from Oakland," Lechler said in a radio interview. "After giving them 13 years and plus what the Davis family has done for me, I thought I would at least have a conversation with someone there or something before this all went down. That was the frustrating part of it. I can't say that I turned a contract down or anything because I was never really offered one."

Janikowski had six field goals in the game, while Lechler's punting, in part, played a role in limiting WR Devin Hester. Oakland Raiders P Shane Lechler (hamstring) suffered a strained hamstring in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos, and the team might need a replacement going forward, reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. "We'll have to decide pretty quick how we want to attack this," head coach Tom Cable said. "(We'll have to determine) the severity and what his workload can be, if anything." Cable added that Lechler would likely be OK to be the holder on place kicks even if he can't punt. Ps Glenn Pakulak and Swayze Waters are mentioned as potential replacements.
