Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson said he thinks comments made by former NFL RB Jim Brown were meant as a motivational ploy. Brown criticized the Browns for selecting Richardson in the NFL Draft, calling him an average running back. "I've got big shoes to fill. I don't dislike Jim Brown for his comments on me. He's just pushing me to the limit," Richardson said. "He's going to make sure I'm going to work and make sure he can get everything he can out of me as far as me being in Cleveland."

Former Cleveland Browns RB Jim Brown is no longer an official executive adviser for the team, reports The Associated Press. Brown had served as a consultant for the team for the past few years, but his title has been dropped. Brown will still be involved with the team, according to spokesman Neal Gulkis. Gulkis said Brown met with team president Mike Holmgren, and both agreed that Brown would not have an official role.

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports former NFL RB Jim Brown, who serves as the Cleveland Browns executive advisor, said Tuesday, Nov. 17, during a luncheon that owner Randy Lerner was interviewing someone who could take over as the team's head of football operations. "At this moment, right now Randy Lerner is meeting with one of the great football minds in this country," Brown said. "And if things work out, that person will come in to run the football side of the Browns." Brown would not disclose who it was. When somebody asked if it was former NFL head coach and executive Mike Holmgren, Brown responded coyly, "You said it ... and I heard it."

The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson has become the fastest player in NFL history to reach 100 touchdowns for their career after scoring twice in Week 11 versus the Denver Broncos. Tomlinson reached the prestigious record in his 89th career game, four games faster than former RBs Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith. Tomlinson finished the game with four touchdowns Sunday night, Nov. 19.

The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson scored four touchdowns Week 11 and earned his 100th career touchdown during the game. He became the fastest player in NFL history to reach the milestone. Tomlinson finished the Week 11 win with 105 rushing yards on 20 carries and 74 receiving yards on three receptions. Tomlinson has scored an NFL-record 19 touchdowns in his last six games and reached 100 touchdowns in 89 games, four fewer than Hall of Fame RBs Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith.

Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports New York Giants RB Tiki Barber has surpassed Hall of Fame RBs Eric Dickerson and Jim Brown on the all-time total yardage list with 15,511 yards for his career. Barber is now ranked 16th on the NFL's all-time list. Total yards include punt, kickoff, interception and fumble return yardage.

Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Indianapolis Colts RB Edgerrin James 125.7 yards from scrimmage per game in his career is tops in NFL history, according to Elias Sports Bureau. That puts him just ahead of Hall of Fame RB Jim Brown, who averaged 125.5 yards per game, and San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson, who averages 123.5 yards per game.

BusinessWire.com reports a former personal assistant to NFL Hall of Fame RB Jim Brown has filed a lawsuit against the former running back for wrongful termination, retaliation and breach of contract. Duane Moody, who acted as Brown's personal assistant and advisor, alleges that Brown fired him when he refused to wiretap the telephone of Brown's estranged wife, Monique Brown. Moody also alleges that Brown and his foundation failed to pay him salary and commissions under a written agreement.
