Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions QB Drew Stanton took about 20 percent of the repetitions with the team's offense. Offensive coordinator Jim Colletto said he did not want to embarrass Stanton by playing him, though, because Stanton isn't ready.

Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson says he expects to be a more complete receiver this season in the offense of new coordinator Jim Colletto. The Lions expect to run more and use more two-receiver formations, which should play to Johnson's strengths. "We learned a lot," Johnson said of Colletto's system. "We're a lot better route-runners. Every position has gotten better." Johnson also will play this season at 230 pounds, at least five pounds lighter than his rookie season.

The Detroit Lions announced Monday, Jan. 29, the hiring of Jim Colletto as the team's offensive line coach. Colletto spent last season as the offensive line coach for UCLA. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
