An AFC Scout, who scouted Williams in college, said Williams is a press or Cover 2 cornerback but was never used as one. "They asked him to do things that were never his strengths, and the move to safety was bound to fail because he never possessed the intangibles to handle the responsibilities associated with being the leader in the secondary. He is not capable of making calls and setting the defense -- that's too much information for him to process." Williams would have likely had less responsibilities in Smith's Cover 2 defense.

"Chris is ahead and has been playing a lot of nickel for us. We like what we see from him in the nickel. Jimmy plays the ball in there a little better and his range shows up better. A Norfolk, Va., attorney claimed to give Williams money when he was at Virginia Tech and demanded Williams and his father reimburse him about $55,000. The attorney, Carl La Mondue, filed a notice in Norfolk Circuit Court that he was withdrawing the lawsuit.
