Detroit Lions TE Tony Scheffler said he is not worried about losing time to rookie WR Ryan Broyles. Scheffler frequently played in the slot in the team's two-tight end personnel groupings last season, but Broyles has the skill-set to make plays from the slot as well. "It's one of those things in the NFL where you learn to take care of your business and, as long as I do my job, I'm not really concerned with how he (Broyles) fits in," Scheffler said. "I'll help him out. We'll do a lot of similar stuff, so it's fun to have him. He's a great athlete and shoot, he's one of the best college wide receivers that ever played."

Detroit Lions RB Kevin Smith and TE Tony Scheffler ran into each other during a passing drill during practice Wednesday, Jan. 4. Smith went to the ground and was surrounded by trainers after the collision. The team is expected to update his condition after practice.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Wednesday, Oct. 19, that the team has not given any consideration to putting RB Jahvid Best (concussion), LB Justin Durant (concussion) or TE Tony Scheffler (concussion) on season-ending Injured Reserve. "No, we're going to get those guys back as soon as we can, as soon as they pass all their tests and everything like that," Schwartz said. "We feel good about those guys."
