The Associated Press reports former Denver Broncos LB Bill Romanowski sent Broncos owner Pat Bowlen a lengthy PowerPoint presentation outlining why he feels he is the best candidate to be Denver's next head coach. "For Pat to do something like this, it would take him being a visionary, thinking outside the box," said Romanowski. "Him hiring me, it's a long shot. I understand that. I know that." The Broncos have interviewed seven candidates for the job and have not scheduled any further interviews.

The Associated Press reports former NFL LB Bill Romanowski used steroids and human growth hormone supplied by Victor Conte, according to Romanowski in an interview he did for CBS' "60 Minutes" television show. Romanowski said he took illegal steroids for a two-year period starting in 2001 and got them from Conte, the former head of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative, which has been at the center of a steroids controversy in several sports.

CBS5.com, citing Bay City News, reports former NFL LB Bill Romanowski was able to settle his litigation involving a practice field punch that ended a former teammate's career, according to his attorney. Jeffrey Springer, Romanowski's lawyer, said Romanowski agreed to settle for $415,000, a lawsuit filed by former Oakland Raiders TE Marcus Williams over an incident at Raiders' facilities in Alameda on Aug. 24, 2003, in which Romanowski punched Williams in the face. Williams had been awarded $340,000 from a verdict back in March, but his lawyer was not happy and he filed a motion asking for more money or a new trial. After a short closed hearing in a judge's chambers Friday, May 27, Romanowski agreed to settle all the issues in the case, including legal costs, for just an additional $75,000, Springer said.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports former NFL LB Bill Romanowski spoke Tuesday, May 17 about taking steps to play at a physical and emotional peak through 16 NFL seasons. Those steps left him conflicted at times. Romanowski said his emotions got away from him during an interview with a Denver newspaper in which he detailed for the first time how he tailored his use of performance-enhancing substances to avoid detection in league-administered drug tests. Romanowski said he would use a product and when the league banned that product he would move on to something new. He added he got carried away and said things he should not have. Despite his history of illegal hits, enormous fines and often questionable behavior on and off the field, he will go down as one of the NFL's most durable and productive linebackers.

The Sacramento Bee reports former NFL LB Bill Romanowski has a new job these days as a movie actor. He landed a part as a prison guard in the new version of the 1974 classic "The Longest Yard." Apparently, filmmakers were attracted to Romanowski's aggressiveness and, to hear him tell it, they got what they wanted in some of the tackling scenes. He has also landed a role in the upcoming sports film called "Bench Warmers."

The Associated Press reports former Oakland Raiders TE Marcus Williams won his case against former teammate LB Bill Romanowski as a jury ordered Romanowski to pay Williams $340,000 in damages Tuesday, March 22, for injuring the tight end during a practice drill in 2003. Williams said the attack by Romanowski broke his left eye socket, shortened his memory, gave him double vision and depression, ultimately leading to the end of his brief career.

Romanowski ripped off Williams' helmet and punched the second-year tight end in the face during a practice drill. Williams is seeking civil damages of $3.8 million for alleged battery, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports steroid use has become an issue in the $3.8 million lawsuit brought against former NFL LB Bill Romanowski for attacking former teammate Marcus Williams and ending his career. Romanowski, who has been implicated in the BALCO steroids scandal, punched Marcus Williams, then a teammate with the Oakland Raiders, in the left eye Aug. 24, 2003, during a fight on the practice field.

Valente; track and field coach Remi Korchemny and the personal trainer for Major League Baseball's Barry Bonds were charged Thursday, Feb. 12, with distributing illegal drugs, including steroids and human growth hormones to dozens of athletes in the NFL, MLB and elite track and field competitors. They also distributed a liquid drug called tetrahydragestrinone (THG), a designer steroid. Three Oakland Raiders tested positive for THG last year, and former Raiders LB Bill Romanowski has been linked to BALCO.

Williams suffered a brain injury and a broken bone around his left eye after Romanowski ripped Williams' helmet off and punched him in the face. BALCO also has been accused of possible drug and tax violations as well as supplying athletes with THG – a recently banned steroid. Neither player commented upon leaving the grand jury appearance.

Updating previous reports, Ann Tatko, of the Contra Costa Times, reports the four Oakland Raiders players - LB Bill Romanowski, DT Dana Stubblefield, C Barret Robbins, and DT Chris Cooper - reported to have tested positive for the steroid THG will not be suspended this season. The NFL, on Thursday, Nov. 20, announced that it won't suspend players for games this season if they tested positive for THG from urine samples taken before Oct. 6, which is the case for the four Oakland players. However, they are not off the hook, as a memo from NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said anyone who tested positive before Oct. 6 would be "subject to discipline and reasonable-cause testing." Tagliabue added that of over 1,000 players randomly tested since Oct. 6, not one has tested positive.
