John Ryan reports for the Mercury News there will be quite a battle in training camp at linebacker for the Oakland Raiders. MLB Greg Biekert will be the starter when the team plays their 4-3 allignment. The outside spots will be a battle amongst Travian Smith, Eric Barton, Bobby Brooks, Bill Romanowski, Mike Jones and Gerald Dixon. The team wants more than last year's 9.5 sacks from their linebackers. "We're a little bit more versatile, and we're applying a little bit more power from that position," Coach Bill Callahan said Friday.

Updating our earlier story, John Clayton reports for ESPN the one-year contract signed with the Oakland Raiders by LB Gerald Dixon is worth $525,000. Dixon is expected to challenge Eric Barton for the starting weakside linebacker job.

Chargers.com reports coach Mike Riley said CB Lloyd Harrison will get the starting nod at left cornerback in Sunday's game. He'll replace Tay Cody (ankle), who missed practice againt today. The team plans to leave their offensive line intact which means Vaughn Parker at left tackle and Ed Ellis at right. Former starting LT Damion McIntosh has been battling the flu bug. FB Fred McCrary (hip) returned to practice today. WR Curtis Conway, and LBs Junior Seau and Gerald Dixon all missed Thursday's practice while attending the funeral for WR Jeff Graham's father, Walter. It still appears Graham will miss Sunday's game.

The team's official site reports San Diego Chargers LBs Gerald Dixon (calf) and John Holecek (schoulder) returned to practice on Thursday. RB LaDainian Tomlinson (general soreness) also was back at practice earlier today.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the San Diego Chargers held DE Marcellus Wiley out of Saturday night's game against the Dolphins because his hamstring was bothering him. The team also suffered a few injuries during the game as DT Jamal Williams sprained his knee and could be sidelined 2-3 weeks. However, he expects to return to practice this week. CB Alex Molden (groin), WR Rodney Williams (hip Flexor) and Dequincy Scott (back pain) all suffered minor injuries. LB Gerald Dixon also didn't play after suffering a minor knee injury on Thursday.

The North County Times reports San Diego Chargers OL Kevin Gogan (knee) will undergo arthroscopic surgery and is out for the remainder of the season. DeMingo Graham will replace him in the starting lineup. The San Diego Union Tribune reports WR Jeff Graham (lip), RB Terrell Fletcher (rib) and LB Gerald Dixon (calf) all missed Wednesday's practice. Fletcher is expected to start again this weekend. The team will likely replace Graham with Trevor Gaylor and Reggie Jones will be the No. 3 receiver.
