Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan won't return to the team next season, a source close to the coach confirmed Thursday, Jan. 5. Also, cornerbacks coach Rod Woodson, linebackers coach Greg Biekert and safeties coach Kevin Ross will not have their contracts renewed.

According to a radio report Tuesday, Jan. 3, Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan was fired, along with linebackers coach Greg Biekert and secondary coaches Kevin Ross and Rod Woodson. However, head coach Hue Jackson refuted the report on a Sacramento radio show, saying he met with his assistants Tuesday, and only that a decision was coming sooner rather than later, "because that's only fair to the coaches."

Bill Williamson, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings LB Greg Biekert is not expected to participate in the Vikings' offseason workout program that begins March 22. Biekert has not informed the team of his plans, but he is expected to retire.

Bill Williamson reports for the Pioneer Press that Minnesota Vikings LB Greg Biekert, who is considering retirement after 11 years in the NFL, is being given plenty of time to make a decision. Head coach Mike Tice said "we'll give him all the time he needs". Biekert's agent said that he is still about a month away from the decision.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings LB Greg Biekert is considering retirement so he can spend more time with his family. "It's something I have dealt with during the offseason the past couple of years," Biekert said. "It's something I've got to decide for myself." Biekert has one year left on his contract.
