The Contra Costa Times reports the Oakland Raiders signed free-agent QB Erik Meyer (Seahawks) Friday, March 28. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Meyer has not played in an NFL game but spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks the past two seasons. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2001 and the San Francisco Giants in 2004 and 2005 as a pitcher.

Chick Ludwig, of the Dayton Daily News, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Wednesday, June 7, he expects to cut one of the team's five quarterbacks before training camp starts. QB Carson Palmer is the starting quarterback with QBs Anthony Wright, Doug Johnson, Dave Ragone and Erik Meyer in the mix as backups. "We won't take all five of these guys to training camp, so we'll have to make a decision on one of the guys soon," Lewis said. "We're not going to cut Carson, but one of those other four."
