Meyer has not played in an NFL game but spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks the past two seasons. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2001 and the San Francisco Giants in 2004 and 2005 as a pitcher.

QB Carson Palmer is the starting quarterback with QBs Anthony Wright, Doug Johnson, Dave Ragone and Erik Meyer in the mix as backups. "We won't take all five of these guys to training camp, so we'll have to make a decision on one of the guys soon," Lewis said. "We're not going to cut Carson, but one of those other four."
