Dallas Cowboys DL Jason Hatcher said he will be a role player in the Cowboys defense, and that there are no star players on the defense. "I'm a role guy – there's no star players," he said Wednesday at a charity event at Rangers Ballpark. "Don't care if it's D-Ware or nobody – we're all role guys. We're all going to do our role: get to the football."

Dallas Cowboys DT Jason Hatcher said he has not had contract extension talks with the team at this point. He is entering the final year of his contract and would like to stay with the team.

Dallas Cowboys DE Jason Hatcher said he could play either defensive end or tackle in the team's scheme under defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. Hatcher figures to be an important part of the defense in 2013. "He still doesn't know where I'm going to play yet," Hatcher said of Kiffin. "I don't know if I'm going to be the Warren Sapp in his 4-3 defense or not. He does have high hopes for me. I'm going to be a big part of this defense, so I'm excited about this role I'll have in this upcoming season. I'm going to embrace it and be the best I can be." If Hatcher plays inside he might have to stay at about 295 pounds to deal with the pounding of taking on opposing guards and centers. Hatcher is at 295 pounds now; however, he would like to lose some weight if he plays off the edge.

Dallas Cowboys scouting director Larry Lacewell estimates DL Jason Hatcher might see an uptick in his sack totals after a chance to the Tampa 2 scheme of new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. "Hatcher would be an outstanding (three) because he can run," Lacewell said Friday, Jan. 11. "He can really fly. He's going to be able to use his athleticism." Hatched has 8.5 sacks over the past two seasons as a starting defensive end. However, he is expected to see a lot more one-on-one matchups with the opposing offensive guards.

Ware did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, Butler was limited and the other three fully participated.
