Yankees | No timetable for Andrew Miller

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 10:35:05 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) made 25 tosses off flat ground from 60 feet Wednesday, June 24, and he said it was hard to tell if his injury had improved in the session. He's unlikely to return before the All-Star break. Miller said there is no timetable for the next phase of his rehab. He had converted 17 of 18 save chances this year and was sporting an ERA of 1.03.

Fantasy Tip: The Yanks aren't rushing Miller back, but he's unlikely to need a long rehab assignment whenever he starts one. In the meantime, Dellin Betances, who took his first loss Tuesday night, will continue to serve as the primary closer with Miller out. Even when Miller returns, Betances should be valuable to fantasy owners without save opportunities.

Yankees | Andrew Miller to play catch

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 22:41:19 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) is expected to play catch Wednesday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Miller is likely to return sometime in the middle of July. Until then it will be Dellin Betances trying to put out fires in the ninth inning.

Yankees | Andrew Miller out approimately a month

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 13:14:01 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) could miss as much as a month recovering from a strained forearm muscle. "Miller will be shut down for about two weeks, then start a throwing program," general manager Brian Cashman said. "I guess, conservatively, it'll be about a month."

Fantasy Tip: Dellin Betances will take over the closing duties for New York, and he has been dominant this season with a 0.28 ERA, a 1.07 FIP, a 0.77 WHIP and a 15.0 K/9 over 32.1 innings. Miller is worth stashing in all formats, but there also is a reasonable chance Betances never relinquishes the closer role back to Miller. Continue to check back for updates on Miller's recovery.

Yankees | Andrew Miller out indefinitely

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 17:17:01 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) won't pick up a baseball for 10-14 days, after an MRI revealed a strain of the flexor mass in his left forearm Wednesday, June 10. Miller will be re-evaluated in order to plan a further course of rehab at that time.

Fantasy Tip: Season-long owners need to go out and grab Dellin Betances wherever he is available.

Yankees | Dellin Betances is the next man up

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 13:59:23 -0700

New York Yankees RP Dellin Betances will take over closer duties with RP Andrew Miller (forearm) headed to the disabled list with a strained forearm muscle.

Fantasy Tip: Betances has been next to unhittable this season with a 0.28 ERA, a 1.06 FIP, a 0.77 WHIP and a 15.0 K/9 over 32.1 innings. Now that he'll take over the ninth inning for the Yankees, he should be viewed as a top-tier closer. He already should have been owned in all fantasy leagues, but your waiver wire is worth another check. It isn't out of the question for Betances to hold the job for the remainder of the season, either.

Yankees | Andrew Miller headed to DL

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 13:54:18 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) is headed to the disabled list with a strained forearm muscle. RP Dellin Betances will take over closing duties in his absence.

Fantasy Tip: Betances should have already been owned in all mixed leagues, and now his value receives a significant boost. He has been lights out and currently sports an impressive 0.28 ERA, 1.06 FIP, 0.77 WHIP and 15.0 K/9 over 32.1 innings. Miller is worth stashing in all formats, although, there is a chance he never regains ninth-inning duty. Betances very likely could take the job and never look back.

Yankees | Andrew Miller sets franchise record

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 16:52:25 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller pitched the ninth inning for his 17th save of the year against the Seattle Mariners Wednesday, June 3. Miller set a franchise record by converting his first 17 save tries for the team.

Fantasy Tip: Miller gave up a hit and a walk and struck out three in 1 2/3 frames for the save. He's been one of the biggest draft day steals of the 2015 fantasy season so far, and although Dellin Betances has also been lights-out in the setup role, there is no reason for Joe Girardi to change things up when it's been working so well.

Yankees | Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller shining

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:03:35 -0700

New York Yankees RP Dellin Betances allowed an unearned run against the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, May 27, and he still has yet to allow an earned run this year. RP Andrew Miller pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 14th save in as many chances. Betances gave up a hit, a walk and struck out three.

Fantasy Tip: Betances and Miller have both been lights out this year and are a big reason why the Yankees have been a surprise in the early going. Even though Miller is entrenched as the closer, Betances continues to be useful in all fantasy formats.

Yankees | Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller strong

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 09:57:00 -0700

New York Yankees RPs Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller have yet to allow a run in 20 2/3 combined innings, and the Yankees' bullpen ERA is 1.77 in 71 innings. Betances, after a rough spring training in which his velocity was down, hasn't given up a hit in his last four outings over six innings, and he's looking like his All-Star self from 2014. Betances and Miller both have 17 strikeouts each. Miller has given up three hits in 9 1/3 scoreless innings, and he broke former RP Mariano Rivera's record with eight saves in the first 20 games.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Betances owners would prefer it if he were seeing save chances, they can't really complain about his bounceback after a bad spring. Miller owners are reaping the benefits, but Betances should remain owned in all leagues.

Yankees | Andrew Miller not named closer

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:36:06 -0700

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller has yet to be named as the team's closer by manager Joe Girardi.

Fantasy Tip: Miller had a five-out save last night against the Baltimore Orioles, and he's clearly in the lead for save chances over Dellin Betances, who had a rough spring and has carried it over into the regular season. Both Yanks relievers should be owned in all fantasy leagues.
