Boston Red Sox SP Daniel Bard came on in a 5-5 tie with the go-ahead run at third base with one out in the eighth inning against the Minnesota Twins Monday, April 23, and Bard proceeded to strand the runner at third base. He picked up the win in his first relief appearance after RP Alfredo Aceves locked down his third save of the season.

Boston Red Sox SP Daniel Bard will have his turn in the rotation skipped after his start Sunday, April 22, against the New York Yankees was rained out. Bard will be available out of the bullpen until his next scheduled start Friday, April 27, against the Chicago White Sox. Manager Bobby Valentine said if Bard is used in relief, it will be in a setup capacity. "Daniel will have an opportunity to pitch either in a bullpen session or out of the bullpen here in the next couple of days," Valentine said.
