Broncos | Montee Ball the starter, competition for No. 2

Fri, 30 May 2014 05:55:19 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball has the starting job, and the competition for the backfield is with the No. 2 spot, according to offensive coordinator Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are the main contenders. The bruising Anderson would seem to hold up better, but the slasher Hillman has more experience. It seems as if situational work would cancel them out as long as Ball is healthy and effective.

Wed, 29 Jan 2014 12:33:35 -0800

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase said he feels like he is ready to be a head coach in the NFL. "That was the first thing they asked me, and I said I do feel that I was ready," Gase said Wednesday at Broncos' headquarters. "It's just when we beat San Diego and got to the next game, I just felt like mentally it was kind of … if we beat New England, I'm not going to be able to do anything till February and then it's going to be a quick spiral with implementing an offense, getting the staff ready to go, getting to the combine that's a lot of stuff in like 2 ½ weeks. "So I didn't think it was fair to myself or them (because) I'm not going to get all this stuff implemented, and then I knew if we lost I was going to be out of it."

Denver Broncos defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jack Del Rio said he doesn't plan to tinker with the team's offensive game plan much at all as he takes over for head coach John Fox (heart). Offensive coordinator Adam Gase will call the offensive plays and QB Peyton Manning will make audibles at the line. "I'm not going in tinkering with things on offense or special teams. We have good people there, and they're doing their jobs," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: The offense in Denver is Manning's show, so not a whole lot will change in Week 10 against the San Diego Chargers. Start all of their offensive playmakers as you have been all season.
