Sun, 29 Jan 2006 15:31:42 -0800 Japanball.com reports the Japanese League Softbank Hawks have re-signed slugging 1B Nobuhiko Matsunaka to a seven-year deal, setting a record for the longest contract by a Japanese player in professional baseball. The 32-year-old will earn an estimated 500 million yen per year and also has performance-based incentive clauses built in. The veteran won the Japanese Triple Crown in 2004 and took the home run and RBI titles last season.
