Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Monday, May 7, that there is no timetable for the return of SP Jair Jurrjens to the big league level. "It wasn't like he was going out on a rehab assignment," Gonzalez said. "Without making this sound cruel, he's a minor league player right now." Jurrjens is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in two starts with Gwinnett since being demoted.

Atlanta Braves SP Jair Jurrjens gave up just one earned run and four hits while walking three and striking out four with Triple-A Gwinnett Sunday, April 29. He threw 54 of his 93 pitches for strikes and topped out at 90 mph with his fastball.

An American League scout believes Atlanta Braves SP Jair Jurrjens (knee) is dealing with a chronic knee injury that cannot be fixed with surgery, and it could have affected his poor second half last year and atrocious start to the 2012 season. However, Jurrjens continues to say his knee feels fine.

The Atlanta Braves have optioned SP Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Gwinnett after he lasted only three-plus innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jurrjens, who led the Braves with 13 wins last season despite two trips to the disabled list, is 0-2 with a 9.37 ERA in four starts. He retired only seven of the 17 batters he faced Monday, April 23, and was charged with five runs on nine hits in a 7-2 loss.

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said SP Jair Jurrjens will make his next scheduled start even though he has struggled so far this season. Jurrjens is 0-1 with an 8.01 ERA in three starts this season. Gonzalez said the knee injury Jurrjens suffered last season has not been a factor this season.

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez announced that SP Tommy Hanson will serve as the team's Opening Day starter Thursday, April 5, against the New York Mets. After an off day Friday, April 6, SPs Jair Jurrjens and Mike Minor will start the final two games of the Mets series. SP Brandon Beachy will open a three-game series against the Houston Astros April 9, with Hanson pitching on April 10 or April 11. The winner of the fifth-starter competition between Randall Delgado and Julio Teheran will start the game that Hanson doesn't pitch in. Jurrjens is scheduled to start the home opener against the Milwaukee Brewers April 13.

Atlanta Braves SP Jair Jurrjens (knee) said he hasn't had any problems with his right knee this spring. "I honestly feel really good," Jurrjens said. "I'm just not seeing the results right now. But the main thing is no pain. If I keep getting comfortable and stronger, I'll start seeing the results I want."
