Texans | James Casey could see increased role

If Houston Texans impending free-agent TE Joel Dreessen departs in the offseason, it could mean a big lift for FB James Casey. Casey, who spent most of 2011 at fullback after being converted to the position during training camp, caught 18 passes last season. Moving Casey back to his original position and pairing him with TE Owen Daniels would give the Texans two downfield threats at the position.

The Houston Texans could feature more two-tight end sets in 2012. TE Owen Daniels and impending free-agent TE Joel Dreessen combined for 82 receptions, 1,113 yards and nine touchdowns last season. They could top those numbers in 2012 with a healthy return of QB Matt Schaub (foot).

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels (hand) will undergo an MRI to see if he suffered a broken hand in the Wild Card playoff game. Daniels should be able to play if it is broken because it was not a compound fracture.
