Washington Redskins DT Barry Cofield (groin) will return to the playing field in Week 11 after being activated from the team's short-term Reserve/Injured list earlier this week. Head coach Jay Gruden and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett will reportedly ease him back in. Cofield had groin surgery in September and sports hernia surgery in May of 2014.

He will not be able to return to practice for six weeks, and he can't play for eight weeks. Cofield hasn't missed a game since the 2008 season finale with the New York Giants. DT Chris Baker will replace Cofield, moving from left end.

You've just got to go out there and work. Our medical staff has been great. They've got a ton of different options. Having this long practice week will give me a lot of time to adjust. I don't think it will affect me. It's not gonna be an excuse for me." He is not sure if he will need to wear a brace while playing.

"Some other guys I played with, sweat with and bled with, I don't think it was right, the way things went down with them," Cofield said.
