Former Carolina Panthers running backs coach Jim Skipper said he could have joined the Denver Broncos coaching staff, according to Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com. Skipper said the Broncos' brass wanted new head coach John Fox to keep running backs coach Eric Studesville. Instead of going to Denver, Skipper said he will likely wait until next year for a job or retire.

New Denver Broncos head coach John Fox has retained five of the team's former assistant coaches on offense, reports Jeff Legwold, of The Denver Post. Clancy Barone will coach tight ends, Eric Studesville will coach running backs, Adam Gase will handle quarterbacks, Brian Callahan will be an offensive assistant breaking down the team's opponents. Mike McCoy, who has a history with Fox, is remaining as the offensive coordinator. Under Fox, the team will have a commitment to the running game, especially in short-yardage situations. Last year, the Broncos had 18 third-and-1 situations and passes on six of them, converting just one. In seven third-and-2 situations, they passed the ball five times with just two conversions. The only coaches on the defensive side retained were defensive line coach Wayne Nunnely and defensive assistant in breaking down opponents Jay Rodgers.

The Denver Broncos are looking at Houston Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison, Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and former Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox as the main candidates for their head coaching position, sources told Mike Klis, of The Denver Post. New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and Broncos interim head coach Eric Studesville have not been eliminated from the search but are considered long shots.

The Denver Broncos promoted running backs coach Eric Studesville to interim head coach Monday, Dec. 6, following the dismissal of head coach Josh McDaniels, reports DenverBroncos.com. Studesville becomes the fourth interim head coach in team history and the 13th head coach of the Broncos.
