Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera sitting vs. Cubs

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 09:08:18 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. INF Wilmer Flores draws into the starting lineup at third base and is batting third against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera is having a respectable season with 39 runs, 13 home runs, 31 RBI and a .266/.321/.432 slash line and should be viewed as a low-end starter in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. Flores is hitting when receiving the chance and owns a .290/.344/.510 slash line with 19 runs, eight home runs and 24 RBI since the calendar flipped to May. He's worth owning in deeper settings to plug in when he's in the lineup. Flores is also a viable flier in daily contests Wednesday.

Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera hitting second Friday

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 12:40:02 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera will hit second Friday, July 15, against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson.

Fantasy Tip: With seven hits, including two homers, in the past seven games the thinking might be to give Cabrera more at-bats toward the top of the lineup. That said, Cabrera (.262-12-29) should see more time in your lineup due to his power and the position where he is batting.

Mets | Wilmer Flores on the bench

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 12:53:32 -0700

New York Mets INF Wilmer Flores is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 7. SS Asdrubal Cabrera (personal) returns to shortstop and is hitting sixth, while 1B James Loney is at first base and batting fifth against Washington Nationals SP Lucas Giolito.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a hot streak of late (.375 average, four homers, seven RBI in July), Flores will lose fantasy luster with uncertain playing time now that Jose Reyes is the regular third baseman. Flores could split time with Loney or around the infield, but he's more of a depth option now in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.

Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera update

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 10:25:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera (personal) said he is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, because "a family illness kept him up all night."

Fantasy Tip: So it looks like Cabrera isn't injured but instead could use a little rest. He's a midrange fantasy shortstop with a .262/.321/.415 slash line, 10 home runs and 27 RBI on the season.

Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera scratched Wednesday

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 10:04:01 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera (knee) was scratched Wednesday, July 6, and 1B James Loney has entered the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Loney faces fellow lefty Justin Nicolino today, and he is actually hitting .300 in 20 at-bats against left-handers this season. He hit .266 against them from 2013-15, and Loney is a low-end option in DFS.

Mets | Two Mets starters sitting out

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 09:12:43 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Sunday, July 3. SS Matthew Reynolds will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while C Rene Rivera will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds has only two hits in his last 10 games but received only a few starts during that span. He probably can be avoided in all leagues. Rivera is hitting .182 this season and is not a great fantasy option.

Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera homers twice

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 05:27:14 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI against the Chicago Cubs Friday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has recorded six hits in his last six games and recorded his first home run and RBI in seven games Friday. He has posted solid numbers so far this season but may not have much fantasy value outside NL-only leagues.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:43:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera, OF Curtis Granderson and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Sunday, June 26. INF/OF Kelly Johnson will bat leadoff and play left field, INF Matthew Reynolds will play shortstop and bat second, OF Brandon Nimmo will play right field and bat seventh and C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is 7-for-20 with a home run and six RBI during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy lineups. Nimmo will be making his MLB debut and possesses plenty of upside, so he could be worth taking a flier on in DFS as well. Johnson and Rivera are a combined 1-for-11 versus Norris and should be avoided Sunday.

Mets | Asdrubal Cabrera has nice day

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:39:27 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-3 with his eighth home run of the season Wednesday, June 22, against the Kansas City Royals. He finished the day with two runs scored, two RBI, and he also drew a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has performed serviceably in his first year with the Mets, owning a .270/.330/.418 line while providing some modest pop. He's been hitting in the No. 2 hole consistently, so the potential will be there for his stock to go up. As it is, he's an acceptable option at shortstop in deep NL-only formats, but that's about it.

Mets | New-look lineup for Mets

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 14:58:18 -0700

Updating a previous report, OF Kelly Johnson is starting in left field and batting fifth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Wednesday, June 15, after OF Juan Lagares (thumb) was a late scratch. SS Asdrubal Cabrera is now batting second, and INF Wilmer Flores is hitting fourth.

Fantasy Tip: There are limited fantasy ramifications here. Flores receives a boost hitting behind the three best hitters in the lineup and could be a viable low-priced option in daily contests. Johnson also is a potential DFS flier, except he's just 22-for-99 (.222 batting average) against left-handed hurlers since the beginning of 2014.
