Browns | Miles Austin should play next year

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 15:10:20 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Miles Austin (kidney) can be a free agent after this year, but he's been told he should be able to play next year after lacerating his kidney Nov. 30. Austin isn't allowed to do any physical activity right now, and he'll have a CAT scan in four weeks to see how his cut is healing. His injury is not career-threatening.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to say what Austin's fantasy value will be next season since he'll likely be playing for a different team. However, he probably won't be anything more than a WR3 or flex play, depending on where he lands.

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 08:37:43 -0800

The Cleveland Browns placed WR Miles Austin (hip) on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Andrew Hawkins will likely see an increase in targets, and could be a nice sleeper option in FantasyScore this week with a price of $4,300, especially with opponents likely focusing on slowing down Josh Gordon.

Browns | Miles Austin had kidney problem

Mon, 01 Dec 2014 09:10:55 -0800

Updating a previous item, Cleveland Browns WR Miles Austin (kidney) remained in a Buffalo hospital overnight Sunday, Nov. 30, due to a kidney injury he suffered in the Week 13 game. Austin had seven catches for a team-high 86 yards in the loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if Austin will be able to return in Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts, but he's nothing more than a flex play at FantasyScore if he's on the field, and the Colts have been pretty strong against wide receivers this season.

Browns | Will be active in WR market

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 09:35:57 -0700

The Cleveland Browns are expected to be active in exploring free-agent wide receivers. Their receiving corps doesn't have much size outside of likely suspended WR Josh Gordon. WRs Miles Austin and Nate Burleson have long injury histories. Cleveland may pursue CFL standout Duron Carter, son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter, once his season is complete.

Fantasy Tip: Andrew Hawkins could be a candidate to emerge out of the slot, but he's anything but tall. We wouldn't throw much at any of the non-Gordon wideouts until Cleveland finalizes its roster and depth chart.

Tue, 22 Jul 2014 08:22:15 -0700

Cleveland Browns WR Charles X. Johnson is expected to get a chance to rise up the depth chart and challenge the older Miles Austin and Nate Burleson for snaps.

Fantasy Tip: The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, who has battled knee injuries, was called "intriguing" by Tom Reed and is someone to watch during the year.
