Chris Pika, of NewOrleansSaints.com, reports New Orleans Saints DL Tony Bryant says he's appreciative of all the practices, reps and camaraderie in the locker room more now than when he first came into the league in 1999. Bryant suffered a neck injury and experienced numbness in his entire body in November 2002 while playing for the Oakland Raiders and did not return to the NFL until he was signed by New Orleans near the end of the 2003 regular season. "People don't understand that it doesn't last long," said Bryant, who has played in all 32 games in the past two seasons with the Saints. "It's here today and tomorrow, it's gone. When I was at home, I missed the camaraderie with the guys - I missed everything. Now, every day is a blessing for me whether it's in the locker room, or when I get on the field."

Jeff Duncan, writing for the Sporting News, reports New Orleans Saints DE Willie Whitehead could be in danger of losing his roster spot with the team. During offseason workouts, veteran DE Tony Bryant filled the swingman role Whitehead occupied in recent seasons. With three other young defensive ends ready to make their mark, Whitehead could become the odd man out.

Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports DE Tony Bryant, who failed a physical and was released by the Oakland Raiders, is now is free to sign with any of the league's 32 teams, including the Raiders. Raiders HC Bill Callahan didn't rule out the possibility of the Raiders re-signing Bryant at some point, but added: "From all indications, it's not conceivable at this point."

Updating earlier reports, John Clayton reports for ESPN.com Oakland Raiders DE Tony Bryant (back) may miss three weeks as he recovers from his injury. Bryant has had some back problems before, but this new injury is causing doctors to be more cautious. He had a second medical opinion and he was told he should rest about three weeks before coming back to play.

Updating an earlier story, the Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders DT Tony Bryant (neck) will undergo a third MRI exam that will help determine whether he will play again this season. Agent Peter Shaffer denied reports a decision has already been made to keep the player off the field for the rest of the season. "We're still evaluating," Raiders coach Bill Callahan said. "He's having another MRI, (and) we should know more. I think it's a bruise to the spine, a bruised spinal cord. I'm not positive to the depth of that, but I believe that's what it is."

The San Francisco Chronicle reports a Raider source has told them Oakland Raiders DE Tony Bryant (neck) will not play again this season. Following Wednesday's practice, coach Bill Callahan said that Bryant was seeking another opinion on his injury. When asked if Bryant might be able to play in Denver, Callahan said, "I'm not ruling out that possibility." Bryant is listed as questionable.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Oakland Raiders DE Tony Bryant (neck) was released from the hospital on Monday after a CT scan turned up negative, showing no signs of a spinal injury. Head coach Bill Callahan said he was a little sore but he believed Bryant had all the feeling in his extremities.

Oakland Raiders DL Tony Bryant (head/neck) had to be taken from the field on Sunday on a board after suffering an injury to his head/neck area. Bryant was able to move both his arms and legs but was taken to a hospital for observation.

The Contra Costa Times reports Oakland Raiders coach Bill Callahan said DEs DeLawrence Grant, Emil Ekiyor and Tony Bryant are leading candidates to replace DE Regan Upshaw, who as previously reported is out for the 2002 season with a torn ACL. Upshaw said he will have surgery within a week to repair the ligament, and the rehabilitation likely will take up to a year.

The Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders backup S Eric Johnson fractured his left leg last night and he will miss at least eight weeks after undergoing surgery. FB Jon Ritchie has a groin strain, LB Elijah Alexander injured his left knee, RB Randy Jordan and CB Charles Woodson sustained turf toes, and DE Tony Bryant has a left hip bruise. ''This is about as injury-riddled as I've seen this team,'' said coach Jon Gruden. Starting S Anthony Dorsett (sprained left knee) will undergo an MRI today. Starting G Steve Wisniewski sprained his left ankle, but he's likely to start on Sunday. Woodson was fitted for a boot and his practice time will be limited this week.

Josh Taves is an exclusive-rights free agent the team will probably re-sign. They are negotiating with DE Regan Upshaw, but last reports had the two sides "not close" to a new deal.

The Contra Costa Times reports the Oakland Raiders RB Napoleon Kaufman (bruised right quad) will miss significant practice time this week. FB Jon Ritchie (high ankle sprain) is questionable to doubtful right now, RB Randy Jordan (turf toe), DT Grady Jackson (shoulder), DE Tony Bryant (dislocated fingers) and S Eric Johnson (shoulder) were also banged up. Jackson and Johnson underwent MRIs on Monday and the results have not yet been released.
